Homeschool hoopers

A fun, active basketball program for home-schooled kids

Home School Hoopers is a movement-based basketball session designed specifically for home-schooled children. It’s a positive, active break in the middle of the day where kids can build skills, stay active and connect with others in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Sessions are packed with simple drills, fun games and teamwork activities suitable for all abilities. Kids don’t need any basketball experience — just a willingness to move, try new things and have fun.

Experience Supporting Neurodivergent Children

Home School Hoopers is led by a coach with extensive experience working with neurodivergent athletes in both community and representative basketball settings.

Matt Shorrock is currently an assistant coach with the NSW Ivor Burge men’s state team, a program supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities. He has also previously coached inclusive basketball programs with One Culture and Central Coast Basketball, and worked as a support worker earlier in his career.

As a parent of neurodivergent children, Matt understands the importance of creating sessions that are structured, calm and inclusive. Home School Hoopers is designed to support different learning styles, with clear routines, simple instructions and a strong focus on positive reinforcement.

While this is a group program and not a therapy service, sessions are intentionally delivered in a way that supports confidence, regulation and participation for a wide range of children.

If you have questions about whether this program will suit your child, you’re welcome to get in touch before registering.

Can I use my NDIS funding for Home School Hoopers?

Yes, many families can use their NDIS funding to participate in Home School Hoopers. Whether you can claim the sessions depends on how your child’s plan is managed and how their goals are written.

Self-Managed Plans

If you are self-managed, claiming is straightforward.
You simply pay for the sessions as normal and then upload your invoice in the NDIS portal under Payment Requests, using the date and amount of the session or term.

Plan-Managed Plans

If you are plan-managed, it depends on your provider and how the goals in your child’s plan are written.
Most plan managers we’ve worked with have approved sessions. If required, we can invoice your plan manager directly.
