WHO ARE WE?

Iron Tigers Basketball Club is a newly launched basketball club on the Central Coast, dedicated to providing playing and training opportunities for kids in a fun and competitive environment. We focus on developing skills, teamwork, and confidence in young athletes through local competitions and structured training sessions.

 

Iron Tigers is focused on local domestic competitions rather than representative-level competitions. We’re here to offer more playing opportunities for kids who want to develop their skills without the pressure of high-level representative basketball.

Our Mission

To provide a structured entry point for kids under 10s, under 12s, under 14s, under 16s, and under 18s to join a basketball team and grow as athletes and team members. We aim to foster a love for the game, develop fundamental skills, and create a supportive community where young players can thrive.

Unlike social teams that require players to self-organise, Iron Tigers takes care of all the administrative tasks, ensuring a hassle-free experience for both players and parents. Our dedicated coaches provide expert training and guidance, helping young athletes reach their full potential.

Matt Shorrock

Head Coach

Matt is an experienced and passionate basketball coach with a deep connection to the Central Coast basketball community. With years of coaching experience at representative level for the Central Coast Rebels, as well as involvement with Basketball NSW and Central Coast Grammar School, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge to the Iron Tigers Basketball Club.

As Head Coach, Matt is dedicated to developing players of all skill levels, fostering a love for the game, and promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. His coaching philosophy centres on skill development, player confidence, and creating pathways for athletes to reach their potential both on and off the court.

When he’s not coaching, Matt operates Eye of the Tiger Coaching, where he helps individuals achieve their personal fitness and health goals. As a father and avid basketball enthusiast, Matt is committed to inspiring the next generation of players to excel and enjoy the game.
