Iron Tigers Weekly Update

10th November 2025

It’s a massive few weeks to finish the year, our first ever North vs South Gala Day is here, Unleashed has returned from its debut tour and we’ve got some great community initiatives and competitions going to round out 2025…let’s get into it!

North vs South Gala Day – This Saturday

The wait is almost over.

The North vs South Gala Day tips off this Saturday, 15 November, at Niagara Park Stadium, starting from 8:00 AM with our U10 Boys game.

It’s not just about the players…it’s a celebration of everything Iron Tigers stands for: teamwork, development, and community.

We encourage all members, families, and friends to come along for the full day, even if you’re not playing. Wear your colours, support your region, and cheer on your clubmates.

Let’s pack the stands, bring the energy, and make this a day to remember.

📅 Saturday 15 November
📍 Niagara Park Stadium
⏰ First game: 8:00 AM (U10 Boys)

One of our own, Cayleb Knight from the U15 Orange team, has launched a fantastic school project and charity initiative called “Jerseys for Joy”, collecting used basketball jerseys (in good condition) to send to children in Fiji and the Philippines.

He’ll be donating through:

Katalyst Foundation

Filipino Orphans Charity

If you’ve got a jersey you no longer wear, drop it in one of the collection baskets at Waves (Niagara Park) on their game nights — Tuesdays and Wednesdays — or at our CCGS training on Thursdays, where we’ll set up a club collection point to support Cayleb.

A huge well done to Cayleb for showing leadership and compassion both on and off the court. Follow his facebook page here:

Central Coast Basketball is again supporting the Coast Shelter Christmas Appeal and we’re proud to help spread the word.

You can donate unwrapped gifts, food, or hampers at Terrigal stadium from Monday 10 November to Friday 5 December.

Every little bit helps families in need this Christmas.

Our first-ever Iron Tigers Unleashed Tour was a huge success!

Across the weekend, our boys’ teams battled against strong representative competition, showing teamwork, resilience, and the true Iron Tigers spirit both on and off the court.

Our U17 Boys set the standard with leadership and maturity, supporting the U15 teams and helping everyone feel included. All teams showed growth and heart even learning to tackle a washing machine or two along the way!

Massive thanks to Wil, Matt, and Anthony for leading the teams, and special shoutouts to:

  • Anthony for keeping everyone well-fed with his chef skills
  • Roxanne Bartle, our Tour Super Manager
  • Ciara Atherton (Coast Physio) for keeping the boys strapped, supported, and ready to play

We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our touring program and we’re already excited for what’s next.

Look out for EOIs opening soon for teams to compete in the Big Banana Classic in Coffs Harbour in 13 – 15 February 2026

Next Sunday 23rd November 2025, a selection of our U15 Boys and Girls will face off against teams from Port Stephens Basketball Association at Lake Haven Recreation Centre.

Port Stephens is a newly formed association still building towards Waratah representative entry, and we’re proud to support their development — while giving our players valuable game experience.

This week feels like a good snapshot of what Iron Tigers Basketball is about.

On Saturday we get to run our first full North vs South day and bring everyone into the same building, not just the kids who are playing. If you’re part of this club, you’re invited. Come early, stay long, make noise for your region. That’s the culture we’re building.

At the same time we’ve got players like Cayleb running a charity drive off their own bat, Central Coast Basketball backing a Christmas appeal, and our boys just back from our first Unleashed tour representing the club really well on and off the court. That tells me the message is landing. It’s not just games and ladders. It’s how we show up.

We’re also growing. Niagara Park teams are opening up, PCYC is still rolling, Lake Haven is now part of the academy pathway, and we’ve got friendlies lined up to help a newer association get meaningful games. That’s what I mean when I say we want to make basketball more accessible on the Coast.

We don’t just say it, we add venues, teams and sessions.

Thanks for sticking with us as we finish the year. Turn up on Saturday. Let’s make it loud.

Together we roar!
