Premier League launches with high-energy opening round
The inaugural Iron Tigers Premier League tipped off in electric fashion, with Alpha and Apex claiming the competition’s first victories in a memorable opening night.
Apex recorded the most decisive result of Round 1, defeating Edge 50–24, while Alpha opened its campaign with a strong 48–34 win over Ascend.
Chima Harperokonkwo (Alpha) and JJ Sloan (Apex) were the standout players of the round, playing key roles in their opening victories, with Sloan contributing 22 individual points to Apex's win. Alpha captain Will Chapman also delivered a strong performance and led his side well throughout the game, also contributing 22 of their 48 points.
There were impressive individual efforts across all four teams, including Hugh Richardson for Apex, Kasper Magcaba-Gustafsson for Ascend and Owen Minogue for Edge.
Beyond the scoreboard, the night carried the atmosphere of a truly exciting season opener, with player photos, media coverage and player interviews adding to the sense of occasion.
All four teams played with energy and intensity, setting a strong standard for the season ahead. Alpha and Apex now sit level on three competition points, with Apex holding the early advantage on points differential.
